In January 2020, my dad surprised me with a pair of tickets to the San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. I had been watching Niners games with him since I was 10 years old, along with Giants and Warriors games.
As I stood in the stands and watched the players warm up before the conference showdown, there was a certain buzz to the game I just couldn’t get over. Watching the reporters scatter along the sidelines and seeing the Fox Sports pregame set lit up and ready for showtime — I decided at that moment that one day, I would be on the field too.
Since then, I’ve been blessed to pursue my dream with the help of a supportive family and a university that gives me countless opportunities to expand my skillset. I currently work as Liberty University's sideline reporter and PxP announcer for ESPN+ broadcasts, along with numerous Conference USA Championship tournaments. Liberty has given me the chance to dive into nearly every sport possible — from football to tennis and track and field.
In 2022, I was hired to be a Digital Video Intern with NBC Sports, learning to cherish the importance of stories in every form, whether in writing, reporting or even in a simple highlight reel. I contributed to NBC as both an editor and writer, working remotely while during the school year and joining them in Stamford, Connecticut in the summertime. I still remain with NBC as a part-time staff member.
As I continue in this field, I realize that sports is so much more than just a game. It’s a wellspring of inspiration, hope and dedication. Getting to tell athletes’ stories is a privilege I will never take for granted.
